Thijs van der Velden

Thijs joined Helvetas’ Water, Food and Climate team as Advisor in May 2021, bringing 20 years of experience in international cooperation. After completing MSc degrees in Environmental Sciences & Policy and Biology, he worked for NGOs, the UN and as a consultant, with technical expertise and managerial competencies built up while implementing projects and advising organizations in the areas of drinking water, sanitation & hygiene and integrated water resources management. He has worked in various countries in South- and South East Asia, Central Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America. His thematic focus within the Water, Food and Climate team includes climate resilient WASH services and water security.
